Sellers describe themselves as Whitefriars dealers.......I can see only about 4 items in the last year which were Whitefriars, the rest is general stuff seemingly with no leaning towards anything in particular.

I am going to ask a question or two.

They have though !!

So they're expecting at least ?50 for this .. thing...

but remember,  it is so rare that only a genuine whitefriars collector would know of it's existence ;)

Have they just added the reserve, as I am sure I didn't see it earlier?  Probably a senior moment.

Hi,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140442130651

It could go the same way as the 'Boffo penguin Chick'

Remember that made 200.00  :)

Oh well.

MMmm! speaking of which how exactly does that 'Boffo penguin Chick'  reach ?200

three bids looking like the same person takes it from 100 to 200 quid.

How does that happen exactly ???

Either something dodgy or Ebay is dodgy allowing you to bid against your self

Julian

They could have been bidding to reach a reserve ?

That's the only circumstances that would allow such a bidding pattern that I can think of (other than bid retractions by another bidder)

Seems they have had quite a few questions, and this is the reply posted on the listing

Question & Answer    Answered On

Q:     Hi, Your suncatcher is by Michael Bang for Kastrup Holmegaard, Denmark. Regards Al    19-Aug-10

A:     Hi, Thank you for your email. The face is 100% Whitefriars. We bought a very large and many rare Whitefriars direct from Peter Archer Who had the remaining Whitefriars stock. This stock included many one off pieces and short runs. Windows, Slabs, etc.. We have the same design on a Whitefriars hexagon slab in amber and another slab in dark green. Our friend Ray Annenberg and Whitefriars expert, Who was working at Whitefriars at the time the Faces were made. THIS IS UNDOUTABALY WITHOUT QUESTION IS WHITEFRIARS. SO SO RARE.

So, can somebody ask Ray for his views on this...............

The other possibility if it was part of the Whitefriars remaining stock is that it was an item bought in for reference, there is always a good deal of "cross fertilisation" of ideas in the design world  8)

Interesting......
