I have had this vase for over 10 years and have never told or shown it to anyone. I bought it for a fiver at a fair..maybe Kempton, can't remember.

Point is , I bought it from someone who would not have put a label on it and certainly not to up the price or attribute it.

I saw another about 18 months- two years ago at Kempton but thought about it and by the time I got back to the stall it was gone. About ?30 I think.Peter from Oxfordshire had it....those of you who know Kempton will know who I mean. No label of course. Maybe someone now ones it as a "could be".

I woulkd call the colour grey amber. The fish design is on there three times. It is not hand decorated but somehow printed/transfered...my opinion is screen print of some sort. All three "prints" come from the same master as there are telling signs to confirm this.

It is 6 1/2" high. I am the person who part peeled the label.

Hi,

Well that was easily solved..................... We are lucky to have John as a member of the forum, he collects a lot of other glass and not just Whitefriars.

Regards,

                 Patrick.

hmmmm...if it looks ike a duck, walks like a duck then its a duck.

If it looks like Stromberg, has decoration not seen on Stromberg, looks from the picture "simlar" to a shape made by Whitefriars at Wealdstone, has a Whitefriars label on it then it may not be Stromberg.

John..how much do you want for your Stromberg vase?

as for the offer you can't refuse..as mentioned, I already let one go at ?30 because I was having second thoughts at that price so it would more really need to be a price I can't resist

John is correct - they've even put the wrong period label on it!

Cheers,

Stan

Forgive me John and Stan. I do have the GA Journal Vol 8, 2008.

In the catalogue pages that have been reprinted in it all the pieces with animals and birds are cut, all having 'C' prefixes to there codes, denoting 'cut'.

Unless it talks about painting or gold leaf within the text (which I haven't re-read since its issue), there seems to be an inaccuracy in your statement above John.

Stan, for the benefit of us all, please could you say what period the label is for?

Thanks, Nigel

well John,I feel that was very rude of you. I ask if there is a price..was first to ask, and you reply by offering it to someone else. Is that how things are done in the Whitefriars community? I only just joined so Im not up on the etiquette yet.
